Pilbara Extension Network (PEN) 2.0

July 2026 - June 2027

GPRI is proud to be a delivery partner for Pilbara Extension Network Round Two, supporting pastoral businesses across the Pilbara to design, deliver and evaluate practical, on station projects that address real business and landscape challenges. Round Two includes projects focused on grazing management, land stewardship, reproductive performance, phosphorus deficiency and landscape restoration.

GPRI is pleased to be supporting Pilbara Extension Network Round Two as a delivery partner, helping ensure the program is well connected with pastoral businesses across the Pilbara.

PEN supports pastoral stations to design, deliver and evaluate practical projects that matter to their business, while also building knowledge that can benefit the northern beef industry more broadly. Each participating station nominates a Project Lead who shapes their project around a challenge relevant to their operation, with support for project design, budgeting, data collection, analysis and on station delivery. The focus is on practical adoption demonstrations that can provide value now, while also building evidence and insights for the future.

Round Two includes six station based projects across the Pilbara, with topics including gilgai grazing and landscape management, youth focused land stewardship, reproductive performance, phosphorus deficiency, claypan system restoration and reproductive weight thresholds.

The Pilbara Innovation Partnership (PIP) is a long-term collaboration between the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD), Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA), and Rio Tinto.
