Our Projects
Gascoyne Pilbara Rangelands Initiative Inc. delivers practical, producer-driven projects that strengthen pastoral businesses and support healthy, resilient rangelands across the Gascoyne and Pilbara. Our work focuses on solutions that make a real difference on the ground, lifting landscape condition, improving business capability and opening doors to new opportunities across the value chain.
We collaborate with pastoralists, researchers, industry partners and government agencies to deliver projects that are grounded in local experience and supported by sound science. Every project we take on is designed to support long-term resilience: stronger landscapes, stronger businesses and stronger communities.
Our Focus Areas
Rangelands Health
Healthy rangelands underpin productivity, profitability and long-term business resilience. Our projects aim to improve carrying capacity, strengthen landscape function and build the ability to manage seasonal variability, including drought. Healthy country also supports biodiversity, soil stability and water quality—key factors in maintaining both ecological function and social licence.
Applied Research and Development
We actively participate in applied research that advances sustainable production and practical land management. Through partnership and open communication, we help raise the profile of pastoral innovation in the Gascoyne and Pilbara, contribute to policy discussions and ensure producers have access to relevant, timely information that supports informed decision making.
Marketability
With new domestic and international markets emerging for Australian beef, our work helps pastoral businesses understand and capture these opportunities. We collaborate with producers and supply chain partners to strengthen relationships, increase visibility and support access to value-adding pathways that benefit the region.
Our Approach to Projects
We focus on delivering innovative, practical projects that reflect the needs and priorities of pastoralists. Members and stakeholders are actively involved in project design, implementation and review, ensuring our work remains grounded in local knowledge and directly applicable across the rangelands.
We welcome project proposals from our members and seek funding for initiatives that align with our strategic goals and contribute to a productive, sustainable and profitable pastoral industry.
